Alberto Schiabel
Ciao 👋🏻
I'm Alberto Schiabel (/al'bɛrto ski'abɛl/), though I'm known as @jkomyno online. I'm a software engineer 🧑🏻💻, seasoned conference speaker 🗣️, and frequent open-source contributor 👾.
Over the years, I've worn many hats — startup co-founder, researcher, and more. I thrive on solving complex problems and building tools that enhance developer experiences.
Location, Language, and Culture 🌍
I'm a European citizen with an Italian passport 🇪🇺 🤝 🇮🇹. I work remotely, but I'm currently based in Tbilisi 🇬🇪, where it's 00:00 AM.
I grew up in northern Italy, near Venice and the H-Farm tech hub. I'm proficient in English, Italian, Venetian, and I'm able to understand bits of Spanish, German and Turkish. I'm culturally Central-European.
I get along well with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Some of my best work experiences were with colleagues from 🇺🇸 🇧🇷 🇪🇸 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 🇵🇱 🇨🇿 🇦🇱 🇰🇪 🇨🇳 🇧🇩.
Public Speaking 🗣️
I've had the privilege of speaking at conferences and meetups across Europe. My talks focus on solving problems via database optimization, polyglot programming, and WebAssembly.
In addition, I've led hands-on workshops covering Rust, WebAssembly, and TypeScript, sharing my knowledge with developer communities and empowering teams with modern tools and methodologies.
Education 📚
I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from the prestigious University of Padua 🇮🇹. My academic focus was on Software Semantics and Machine Learning. I graduated with full Honors in December 2021, presenting a research thesis on mathematical optimization and submodular algorithms in collaboration with the Czech Technical University of Prague 🇨🇿.
University Affiliations 🏫
Since January 2023, I have been a part-time assistant at the Czech Technical University of Prague. My research and project contributions focus on information retrieval and database optimization, particularly within the energy sector, where I've worked on optimizing the Czech Republic's gas and oil energy networks.
